NO KINGS

One Perspective

As we all know, this past weekend was filled with “No Kings” protests all across our country – and very few have no opinion on the subject. 🙂

Some of the opinions expressed negatively toward the “other side” show glaring truths that I’ve tried all weekend to not think about; but well, I just can’t remain silent. Agree or disagree with me, as I always say. Just be respectful enough to hear me out. ❤

I do have negative thoughts about this particular protest, it’s theme, it’s backing and the behavior of the participants. My negative thoughts don’t matter in the big scheme of things but you know, civil discourse is necessary for civil society. So, here goes.

The entire premise of the theme of the protest is false. Those who are stating and repeating that Trump thinks he is a king or is ‘ruling’ as a king over America don’t understand what that would look like in the really really world. You would not be allowed to hold your protest against this man if he thought he was a king.

Those signs saying that you are protesting because you believe in our constitution reveal that you aren’t informed about our constitution. Have you studied it? Can you state exactly what it is you think is being done against it?

Those chants and speeches and signs that scream free speech… The billboard featuerd here – well, it demonstrates the free speech of someone who felt that Charlie Kirk deserved the recognition that the billboard gives him. Obviously, you don’t believe in free speech if you have a problem with the sign and would ever damage it the way it has been damaged. Not to mention, respect for property belonging to someone who paid big for it.

A civil protest that demonstrates free speech should not contain hate-filled language that has no basis in fact. Name-calling and spewing hateful rhetoric is not what the founders meant when they spoke of free speech. If I cannot make a point based in fact and spoken with evidence to back up my point, I need to remain quiet until I know what is real and what is not. And if I cannot disagree with you without calling you hateful names, I am the one with a problem!

A friend had her car keyed because she had a Trump sticker on it, another was chased down the road and screamed at by a participant in the Saturday protest. Why? Because her sign was in support of our president.

The naked protest held in Oregon proved that these adults have lost their ability to be civil. The costumes worn on Saturday to try to dispprove the belief of many that the leftists protests have been violent simply don’t negate the vandalism, riots and destruction that we’ve all witnessed over the past several years. Trying really hard to be ‘good’ so no one can say the protests are violent seems to be a theme of their speeches and ads leading up to the event. I’m not fooled by the intent and I’m sure many others aren’t either.

The signs and comments about a president who does nothing but plays golf, claiming that he isn’t working – well, anyone with any sense knows that this man works harder and longer than any president we have ever witnessed in the past. I won’t bother to talk about the work we saw or didn’t see President Biden do. And along the same lines: those who are screaming about the ballroom or that all he is doing is making money for himself: Please find the truth. He and other donors paid for the ballroom – not your tax dollars. He donates his salary. Before you tell me that doesn’t matter because he doesn’t need it… that’s not the point, is it? The point is that he is being accused of building his wealth during his presidency. Facts actually say otherwise. And I do challenge you to look at your democratic leaders of the past several years and ask yourself where their wealth comes from. Is it from honestly serving you and our country or is it from using their positions to create personal wealth. Again, it isn’t my concern; but don’t accuse one if you aren’t willing to investigate the others.

Whether protesters are paid or not doesn’t concern me and here is why. I’ve seen the vans bring people from other places to protest in little towns like mine and it bothers me simply because I want my town to represent it’s citizens – but setting that aside, If you can be bought to stand against someone, then I don’t have time or respect to listen to you. If you are truly volunteering of your time and energy for this particular protest, you either don’t know what a king is, refuse to study history, refuse to look at what this president is trying to do for your country, are so determined to hate him that you cannot recognize anything positive or all of the above.

There are many past presidents that I didn’t vote for or agree with. There are many on the political scene that I disagree with their policies on. If I’m going to protest, I hope that I’ll be committed to protest against a policy, a system, a proven criminal who has not been lawfully dealt with or that my protest is actually FOR something positive. I pray that I never stand on the side of the road and attack another human being. Period.

*Disclaimer: my support of our current president, my appreciation for much that he and his cabinet are working to accomplish, my vote for him in no way means that I worship him or that I’m in a cult. It has never crossed my mind to think or state that those supporting another party or political figure means that they are in a cult. It’s simple support of the things I believe in.

*I believe that we cannot be a country without secure borders.

*I believe that there is a legal and beautiful way to become a citizen of the US and many immigrants have done so.

*I believe that the federal government is responsible for the protection of the country’s citizens.

*I believe that charity is best done on a personal and organizational level – not by the federal government distributing the ‘wealth’ of citizens at will.

*I believe that I as an individual have the right to bear arms and protect myself, my family and my property from those who would do us harm.

*I believe that personal responsibility should be required of adults and no one owes me anything.

*I believe that we’ve lost the ability to reason with one another and we had better work to figure out what that looks like among adults.

*I believe that the family unit is the foundation of civilization and we’ve allowed the family to be devalued and morality is now considered outdated and unnecessary.

*I believe that America should be most concerned about Americans before involving ourselves in the issues elsewhere.

*I believe that the strength of our country depends upon the strength of our leadership, in our ability to source our own energy without depending upon other countries as well as our ability to provide safety for our citizens by dealing with criminal gangs, drugs and those seeking to destroy us.

*I believe that life begins at conception and should be fought for.

*I believe that I should be able to express my faith just as loudly as you express yours or your lack of.

*I believe that those reporting the news should be required to speak only truth, not propoganda or conjecture and when they refuse to do so, they should lose their positions.

That’s not all I believe but…

*I believe that the current administration most aligns with my beliefs.

That is all for my rare political post. I know it’s not popular to discuss politics or religion… but you know I’m going to talk a lot about my faith and every once in a while, it’s important to discuss politics because it affects us all!
