The Forgotten Woman Ministries

UPDATES

Every once in a while it is important to touch base with those of you who have been a part of or supported the various aspects of ministry done under The Forgotten Woman Ministries. I am so grateful for each of you – and covet your prayers as we continue.

Most of you are aware the Tranquility (a local shop in Brevard) is the meeting place for many of the ministries of The Forgotten Woman. It is there that we host weekly Ladies’ Nights, other scheduled events for women in general, hurting women, college students and the elderly. These “events” consist of shampoo with head massage, foot washing with foot massage and cleansing facials while sipping on our teas, coffees and smoothies. It’s unusual, I know – but it is our way of being hands on care; and if we’ve discovered anything in the past 7 years; it is that this is much needed! There are also currently 2 Bible studies hosted at Tranquility and another study for post abortion healing that is recorded and sent out through our facebook page.

The Forgotten Woman Blog – where you are currently reading is another aspect of the ministry. This is simply where I ask the Lord to use my writing, my life experiences and my desire to reach into the lives of others. I began the blog last summer and wrote only paid content ($5 a month) but after a few months, it seemed there were more issues with that platform than necessary and I made the blog free with the option to support. That is why at the bottom of each blog you see the HUGE block with the option to support. I’ve tried but cannot make it any smaller – so yes; it’s a bit conspicuous! (Laugh with me)

Currently, we have some who continue to support with $5 a month and I am so grateful for each of you. This is truly my effort to use my gifts and passions for the LORD and nothing can be done without income.

I’d love to share just a few stories with you – so that you may get a glimpse of why I am so passionate about this work.

*Ladies’ Nights: These evenings are when ladies will come in either alone or with a friend or several and pay $20 to receive the treatments (head, feet and facials). They have their choice of one of our drinks included. The $20 covers the cost of our products for these evenings. Myself and a few volunteers serve on these evenings without pay – and the servant hearts of those who have been helping over the years are tremendous! We’ve served as many as 45 in one night – and you can imagine the fatigue and joy that followed! We now take appointments to prevent that kind of overwhelming evening. What we’ve seen during these evenings? Friendships blossom and grow. Women walk in fatigued and discouraged leaving refreshed and joyful. Mothers, daughters and grandmothers coming in together and bonding while giggling, relaxing and being cared for. Women from church groups come in together though barely knowing one another leaving having all walls torn down and feeling like sisters. It’s pretty amazing to see these things with our very eyes.

We’ve given gift certificates to women who have been in the shelter for abuse – and when we begin to wash their hair or feet, silent tears run down their faces. Many open up and ask for prayer during their facials. Some have found a way to bring their daughters back after realizing how much they needed gentle touch. On more than one occassion we’ve taken care of someone who was suicidal when they arrived and left telling us they felt valued and now have hope! The elderly have been brought in from nursing facilities and what a joy when one of them will break into song while we are washing his feet.

The bottom line for these events is that every single person needs to feel valued and our simple service does just that!

The life change that we’ve seen through our weekly Bible studies is not something I can describe well – except to say that women are making hard decisions to walk out on Tuesdays and Wednesdays living more like Jesus within their homes and community! The Post Abortion Healing Bible study is new – three weeks in – and I’m hearing from people from all over the country. Please pray that the Lord will continue to use it to bring women to Himself and to bring healing in their lives!

Feel free to ask specific questions that you have – and pray for wisdom and provision for this work. I say it often and I won’t stop saying it. The blog is simply because I’m clinging to my Father’s hand and there is so much that He has brought me through. I don’t want it to be wasted – I want to shout loudly His mighty works! Thank you for your support!

Currently, there are a few who support what we do at Tranquility with $100 a month and one local family who supports at $150 a month. You can see more of what we do there by visiting/following/liking https://www.facebook.com/joystranquility

There are around 40 who support my personal work through writing with $5 a month and a few who give $10 or $20. Every single dollar helps and gives me hope! The Forgotten Woman facebook is https://www.facebook.com/forgottenwomen
